28 HongKong Street | Singapore
At first glance, the name “28 HongKong” may fool you into thinking it’s located in China, but even knowing it’s in Singapore may not help; one of bar’s chief attributes involves how difficult it is to locate. 28 HongKong doesn’t market and you can’t find them on social media.

Shrouded in a cloud of mystery, 28 HongKong Street combines the unpretentious attitude of a dive bar with the modern-day love for mixology. With music ranging from hip-hop to jazz playing, visitors will sit down in leather chairs and booths and gaze upon the bar’s vast selection of whiskey and sake. One can order stellar classic cocktails or any number of signature drinks. But, whatever you order, don’t forget to order its famous mac ‘n’ cheese balls!

Ponyfish Island | Melbourne, Australia
The only access to this floating Australian beer garden, located on the Yarra River in Melbourne, is via a staircase attached to the Yarra Pedestrian Bridge. With the gorgeous Melbourne skyline in full view, one can enjoy toasted sandwiches and a rotating menu of plated dishes. Even better, wash the food down with some freshly made sangria, cocktails, beer or cider (including its own Ponyfish brand lager and cider).

Some travel sites include a few complaints about the music. But, if you are going to bask in the sun on a floating bar island, why would you want anything else than a party atmosphere? It’s lively, and it’s supposed to be.

Ice Bar | Stockholm, Sweden
The Ice Bar exudes “cool”. Literally. Found within the Ice Hotel in Stockholm, the temperature inside the Ice Bar is maintained at a crisp 20 degrees. The walls are made of ice, the glassware is made of ice and the artwork consists of ice sculptures.
Don’t worry, there’s more to this bar than meets the ice. Ice Bar has won numerous prizes and many of its cocktails have been ranked ”Best in Class” at prestigious competitions such as the International Spirits Challenge and the International Wine & Spirits Competition.

Alux Caverna, Restaurant, Bar, and Lounge | Quintana Roo, Mexico
Sit among the stalactites and stalagmites in this bar found within a 10,000-year-old underground cavern. Don’t worry about claustrophobia though, because the cave is spacious enough to hold 300 people in its restaurant and bar. The abundance of candlelight provides warmth and coziness, the decor and place settings radiate “class” and the DJs, bands and small live theater productions make for a mighty rad experience—and you thought geology was boring.

Sky Bar (and Distil Bar) | Bangkok, Thailand
Situated 820 feet above Bangkok, Sky Bar is one of the world’s highest rooftop bars. Featured in the movie, The Hangover Part II, one can order a Hangovertini, which pays homage to the crew and cast. Or, feel free to indulge in its popsicle-cocktail combo known as a Poptail. But, this bar is not just about its view and gimmicky drinks; the entire menu of cocktails is fitting for a bar located so close to heaven.

The Dead Rabbit Grocery & Grog | New York, USA
Dead Rabbit doesn’t have ice walls. It’s not located in the middle of the ocean. You won’t find it on top of a mountain. Dead Rabbit is not about unique settings; it’s all about quality imbibing.

Dead Rabbit won “World’s Best Bar in 2016” and was voted “Best Bar in North America” four years running, from 2013 to 2016. Meanwhile, the Dead Rabbit Drinks Manual took home the prize for best bartending book in 2016, which is probably why the bar also owns five “World’s Best” cocktail awards, a “Best American Cocktail Bar” award and one of its bartenders won bartender of the year in 2013. If that’s not enough, the bar boldly claims to serve the best Guinness in New York.

So, you know, you might want to get a drink there. Or two. Or…well, whatever you do, make sure you grab a cab back to the hotel.
